Research Scientist

Svitlana Lavrenciuc is a Research Scientist at the Research Team Land Systems and Sustainability Transformations. She focuses on investigating the cultural meanings, representations and values of soil across agricultural societies. Her research crosscuts the fields of spatial practice, environmental humanities, visual culture and critical legal and media studies. In her previous roles, Lavrenciuc has collaborated with civil society organizations, international lawyers, scientists, NGOs and journalists to develop forensic visual investigations dedicated to environmental justice advocacy. Her work includes interactive cartography, advocacy videos and visual forensic evidence files. Being a lecturer in art and architecture, Svitlana’s teaching practice focuses on experimental participatory pedagogies.
