Mirely Guzman Torres is a PhD candidate in the Climate Scenarios for Sustainable Development research unit. She holds an MSc in Environmental Protection and Management from the University of Edinburgh. Her research focuses on modelling the impact of Nature-based Solutions on climate, land use, and biodiversity. With experience across academia, international organizations, NGOs, and the private sector, she has worked on GIS-based land-use monitoring, climate vulnerability assessments, carbon emissions analysis, and biodiversity conservation in agriculture and fisheries. Her interests also include Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLC) engagement, environmental policy, and green and climate finance to channel financial resources to local communities.
