Dr. Fernando Javier Fernández is a postdoctoral researcher at the Wyss Academy working on interdisciplinary research on artisanal gold mining with a focus on Peru. He holds a PhD in Economics and uses econometric methods to study economic development. Before joining the Wyss Academy, he worked for research institutions in Peru, Spain, UK and the US. He has also served as consultant to multilateral organizations such as the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank. He has field experience in Latina America and Western Africa. He is affiliated to the Lima School of Economics.
