Dr. Boniface Kiteme is Senior Research Scientist and Director CETRAD, collaborating closely with Wyss Academy's East Africa Hub to restore wetlands for nature and people in the rangelands of northern Kenya. He is a human geographer and land use planner committed to contribute to developing knowledge-based innovations to resolve the complex challenges of sustainable regional development in the Global South. With over 30 years experience in managing complex and multidimensional research for development projects/programmes, and in fostering stronger science-policy-practice nexus, he specialises in land use planning for sustainability, land and water governance, food systems sustainability, rural livelihood systems and society-rooted organisations for natural resources governance. Dr. Boniface Kiteme is a part-time lecturer at the University of Nairobi and UNESCO co-Chairholder on Natural and Cultural Heritage for Sustainable Mountains Development since 2015.
